The Willow Run Airport, just a few miles from our house, had a huge air show this weekend, including two performances by the Blue Angels. My parents were at our house for lunch on Saturday so, like the dorks that we are, we sat out in the backyard during the performance to see what we could see. (Tim, the kids and I did it again on Sunday, too.) We didn’t have the best “seats” but it was pretty cool to see the Blue Angels from our own back yard.

Today, about a dozen B-12 bombers (?) flew over the
house three times.
Including a couple of times with some of them in formation.
Seeing (and hearing) so many bombers flying so close to our
house made me wonder what Pearl Harbor must have been like.
The planes were done by now but Little Sister was still looking.
Free shows are great. It looked pretty cool. Glad you could enjoy it from your own backyard.
I once watched a Reba concert through a chainlink fence for free. The big video screens come in handy

That pic of LS… I did a double take… I saw JD’s eyes and nose. (nevermind the chin!!) I have a pic somewhere that JD looks so much like cousin Sean!! Its canny how you see the resemblance sometimes.
Those are great shots! Air shows are great but FREE air shows are even better!
Looks like you had pretty good seats to me! Especially not having to get out in the crowds etc.
We have been to the airshow in Gary. It is always free and the kids love running around on the beach watching the planes.
btwinny – it’s amazing the resemblance sometimes, isn’t it? Of course, all the da*n kids look like bets, don’t they? I’ve seen it in BB, I’ve seen it in LS, and we all know that JD looks more like bets than he does you.
inthefastlane – free air show while running around on the beach? Sounds GREAT to me! May have to check that out when the kids are older, as we pass through Gary a couple of times a year on the way to see Tim’s folks in Iowa.
A B-12 is a vitamin although I suppose some people call them bombers. What we saw were B-25 bombers.

I didnt pick up on the B-12 thing…. thats funny.. Leave it to Dad!! (I forgot he reads this now.. gotta watch what I say!!) I was thinking B-52s. Tell me thats an aircraft and not just a band!!
