Mary P repeated her “Book Binge” in May this year. I don’t think I did as well as last year, but here’s what I read.
The Last Summer of You and Me by Ann Brashares, author of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, which is why I picked this book up. It was a good read, though the ending was disappointing. (I must note, however, that I’ve frequently been disappointed by endings lately, for some reason.)
Sundays at Tiffany’s by James Patterson. A quick, fluffy read. Definitely not one of my favorite Patterson books, even counting just the non-mysteries.
Deer Hunting With Jesus by Joe Bageant. Definitely not my usual sort of reading (though I DO read a huge variety of books). Tim got this from the library, then I got a free copy at work and started reading it myself. Still working on it, but will finish it.
Hmmm, it seems like there were more, but I can’t remember. Sure seems like there should be more. I used to read SO many more books back in the days before I had two kids … and a blog … and my car seat hobby …
I know. I never read anymore. It’s so sad.
It’s totally true that the writing and the blogging are interfering with my reading to no end. Just like the housework and the kids used to …
(I still do housework; I’m just … more efficient. *cough, cough* I still have kids; they’re just teens and up, and thus much more independent. They also make less mess in the house!)
Sorry to hear that “Sunday at Tiffany’s” wasn’t one of your favorites. I haven’t read it yet, but hope to get to it soon. Are you a Patterson fan?
JD and I just recently became members of our local library. We now go every Weds. (My day off) first week I got 3 books and read them all by the next weds. (coben, j kellerman, patterson). I turned them in and promptly picked up 4 more books (patterson, picoult, evanovich, lescroart). I read the female others and then kind of fizzled out on the male detective type book and will return lescroart and patterson unread. Ill get them again later. Im going to get the new Cornwell this week and I know there is another one but I cant remember.
so needless to say, with the resources at my fingertips, I am reading too much. But hey.. at least Im not spending my money on nooks (sorry Book!!)
oops.. that was me
I checked and I only completed one book in all of May! Now I have been a wee bit baseball obsessed (and who wouldn’t be with the Cubs to root for?), and the book I’m reading about Abigail Adams, while wonderful, is tough going. Much of it is her letters, and her capitalization and spelling and style are all of another time so I have to read it slowly. (Again, it’s OK because I’m savoring it.) But still! One book in a month of 31 days! Shame on me!
twinny, you read Lescroart? I’ve got one for you. Will bring it this weekend with a few other books, if you want.
I scored a ton of books at garage sales the last couple weeks. My book shelves will be full. It gets me through summer reading and winter stuck-in-the-house reading.
“Sundays at Tiffanys” sound really interesting – imagine meeting your imaginary childhood friend. Is that even possible?
“The Last Summer of You and Me” sounds tempting too. Gonna check out eBay soon…
