As I’ve written many times before, Book Boy is a real reader. He loves to read. His second grade teacher even told him that he was probably the best reader in the class.
But now he may have taken that to a new level.
It’s been chilly, overcast and even rainy the past couple of days, so we’ve pretty much stayed home most of the time. No park outings, or “special walks” as the kids call them. Book Boy has been reading instead. A lot. Monday, he read for six hours (four in a row, two another time). Yesterday, he read at least another five hours. We went to the library yesterday (the big main branch) and while Little Sister and I listened to story time, BB browsed and ended up checking out 21 books! Today, he scaled it back a bit and only read for about two hours.
I really hope that when the weather warms back up, he’ll want to play outside on his own. It would kill me to tell him to quit reading and go outside to play for a while.
Get ready to hear yourself saying, “You’re grounded! No reading!” like my parents did.
I have to tell the Kid to stop reading and go outside all the time. Otherwise she would never leave the couch.
