Tim and I are pleased to announce that our new baby was born on October 23, healthy and weighing 6 lbs. 8 oz. and measuring 20″ long. (She is much smaller than her sibings were, and we actually didn’t have any clothes small enough to fit her.) We are totally in love with her.
And my goodness, Book Boy and Little Sister are more in love with her than we ever would have predicted!
Before she was born, I thought that Book Boy would be somewhat excited but mostly ambivilant about having another little sister. However, from the moment he first laid eyes on her when she was just a few hours old, it was clear that he was totally enamored with her. The day we brought her home from the hospital, he sat on the couch and just held her for about an hour. He runs in the door after school and says “Where’s the baby? I want to hold the baby!” It’s very, very nice.
Little Sister, on the other hand – well, I knew she was thrilled about the baby. In the months leading up to the birth, LS came running whenever I sorted through baby items, she asked to look at baby things every time we went to a store, and she practiced with her dolls all the time. She’s little enough that we don’t let her hold the baby as much as we let Book Boy, but I have a feeling these two girls are going to be very close as they grow up.
(Yes, I know it took me forever to get this posted – I swear, every time I started to write and edit pics, Book Baby woke up and needed me!)

It took you two weeks to post these pics?! You slacker! Just kidding. Congrats again on the birth of Book Baby. I was glad to read and see how excited Book Boy and Little Sister are about their sister.
Seems to me that with Book Boy and Book Baby, Little Sister ought to be able to have a Book name, too. Especially now that she is starting to read!!!
Snowbird, LS hsa a new name on the way. (She picked it herself.)
Malcolm, I couldn’t believe how long it took me to get this posted, especially since it seems like I spend half my life on the couch nursing the baby. Hopefully I won’t be such a slacker again, at least as long as I don’t need to post pics.
So, what’s the big secret? Can’t wait to see what LS has come up with. Are things improving?
I hope her name isn’t Book Sister. BS = not a good monogram.
I know, I’m a sap when it comes to your kids. But I actually got misty when I saw the photos. Esp. the one of the two with their baby sister. It was the last to load and DEFINITELY worth waiting for!
How are you feeling, Book Mama?
Gal, don’t worry, LS won’t be named BS. I actually didn’t put her new name here just because I didn’t want to distract from the baby new, but clearly that backfired. Her new name is … drumroll please … Book Girl, which she picked out herself.
I’m glad you liked the pictures. I wish I had more time to take and edit good pictures, but I’ll take what I can get.
I’m feeling good most of the time, though pretty exhausted. I swear, it’s some kind of cruel joke that some moms are expected to recover from major surgery (i.e. c-section) while tending to a newborn 24 hours a day, getting almost no sleep and being home alone with three kids. Doc always says “take it easy, don’t lift anything heavier than the baby, etc.” but it’s nearly impossible to follow those orders. I’m really tempted to call my doctor and ask for a new script for the “no refill” Percocet.
sorry, I missed this post! congrats on the new arrival in the family! Book baby is gorgeous!
