School has been back in session for almost two weeks. School supplies, homework, worksheets, etc. We spend at least an hour on this stuff every school day.

As summer winds down and school starts up again (Book Boy starts Tuesday), I hear so many parents – especially moms – rejoicing. They’re happy to get the kids out of the house, happy to have them in school all day again, etc.

Book Boy’s class is taking a series of national assessment tests (NWEA) this week. They had the math assessment yesterday, and BB did quite well. Tomorrow is the reading assessment.

Book Boy is on a school break. “Winter break,” they call it, to mark the switch from the second trimester to the third trimester. He had a half day today and is off Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday.
Then in April – less than one month – he has another week off, for spring break.
