This week, Big Brother is learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. at school. Being only 6, the messages aimed at the first graders are fairly simplistic: Be nice and kind to each other, get along no matter how you’re different.
On the way home from school today, I asked BB if there are kids in his class who look different from him (his school is very diverse). He said “Mom, EVERYone in my class looks different!” Then he told me that even people who are really different have things in common, and proceeded to list things he had in common with particular people.
I asked him what he and I have in common.
“Well,” he said. “We both love to read!” Check!
“We both love to eat cheese.” Um … ok. (Very true, though.)
“And we both love to yap!”
