Book Boy and Little Sister are spending the weekend with my parents. This visit was much anticipated by all involved, especially the kids. The love spending the weekend with Mimi and Grandpa, and have been looking forward to this visit since before my parents returned from Florida for the summer.
But I didn’t quite realize until this afternoon how much BB wanted a weekend without his parents. We had only been there a few minutes, and I was sitting on the couch chatting with my parents.
BB sat down next to me, put his hands on my shoulder, and pushed hard.
“Come ON, Mom, go! This is supposed to be a weekend with no parents!”
I explained that I needed to transfer the car seats to my dad’s van, and went out to do so. When I came back in the house, BB was still just as anxious to get rid of me. I spoke to my mom for just a minute, and got this from him:
“Mom, this used to be your house. But now you have your own house. So GO!”
So I did. And now Tim and I are enjoying a nice, quiet, child-free evening, in which we did not have to fight with anyone to go to (or stay in) bed. I can’t wait to have an uninterrupted night of sleep.
Kids. I sure do love ’em, but it’s great to have a break once in a while.
