So Tim, the kids and I are in Iowa visiting his family. We’re staying in a hotel. As usual, the kids weren’t ready for bed when we were ready for them to be ready for bed. Book Boy put his book down about two hours ago and fell asleep, but Little Sister farted around for quite a bit. I’m hungry, I’m thirsty, I have to go potty (she is not even potty training at this time!), can I get my Woody doll, etc. She was in bed next to Tim, got up again and said “I need a tissue.” I told her to go in the bathroom and get one.
A minute later, she came out of the bathroom and said “Daddy, I’m bleeding.” We looked up, and her face and pajamas were covered in blood!
After about 30 seconds, we were sure that it was because she had picked her nose. This has happened a few times before (and she doesn’t have to pick it, um, deep or anything) but not like this. I do think it happened this bad at preschool once, at naptime. It took us about 10 minutes to get the bleeding to completely stop tonight. Now she is sound asleep in bed with Tim.
I have to say, LS was quite a trooper! She never cried, never fussed, etc. She seemed to get that she wasn’t hurting or actually hurt.
Anybody else’s kid have this happen? Does your heart stop every time, or do you get used to it?
