As everyone knows, the 2008 Summer Olympics are currently under way in China. Tim and I like watching some of the sports – gymnastics, of course, and swimming/diving, – but we really don’t watch much other than that.
But this year? We’ve watched gymnastics, swimming/diving, badminton, bicycling, beach vollyball (I think Tim likes that one), kayaking, fencing, basketball, soccer, field hockey, rowing, etc.
Why the change this year, you may ask? Simple – Book Boy wants to watch! For some reason, this summer he is really interested in any of the sports. He’s always asking “Can I turn on the TV and see what’s on the Olympics right now?” He particularly likes gynmastics and swimming (he’s turned into a big Michael Phelps fan). We try not to have the TV on all day, but Tim and I are both inclined to let BB watch (almost) as much of the Olympics as he wants to. It’s fun watching it with him, too.
Anybody else watching the Olympics? What are the favorite sports at your house? What about the kids – are they interested? Too young?
