As I mentioned in my last post, the BookMama family is really enjoying the Summer Olympics. We have the TV turned on it a lot. My one complaint, though, is that the good stuff is on too late!
Book Boy’s favorite sports to watch are swimming (Michael Phelps) and gymnastics of any sort. We’ve been letting him stay up late – even falling asleep on the couch – so that he can watch those two sports, which are generally on during “prime time,” which starts at 8:00 p.m. in our time zone. He usually conks out by 9:15 (he’s very active during the day and tired at night!) and ends up missing the sports he wants to see.
Gymnastics didn’t even START until 11 p.m. today! Last night the women’s team gymnastics event went until 12:20 a.m. Who on earth can stay up THAT late to watch the end – at least without suffering from a lack of sleep the next day?
I realize that NBC (and CBC, which we also watch) are somewhat limited by the difference in time zones. But sheesh, all this gymnastics and swimming occurred earlier today anyway – can’t they show it a little earlier in the evening?!
(Luckily, Tim found a recap of the gymnastics this morning – BB was reportedly happy with the amount he saw.)
Are you staying up late to watch the end of these sports? Missing out on the end entirely? Taping it to watch later?
