When I got back to the building, I decided to park in the drive in front of the lobby rather than the parking lot. I parked at the spot where the sidewalk dips and is even with the drive.
Or so I thought! As I walked to the sidewalk with my hands full of Target bags, I tripped on the curb. I was in a hurry, so I was going fast and fell – hard. I ended up with a sprained foot, crutches, and orders to stay off my foot for a few days. And it hurts like the dickens! Ugh.
I will say that I was very glad no one actually saw me fall, though I do think that everyone in my department saw me being wheeled downstairs in a wheelchair. (I had managed to hobble to my second-floor cubicle. Yes, I took the elevator.) Plus this is the building that I’ve worked at for 10 years, the entrance that I go in every time I go to work.
“Staying off my foot” is not exactly the way I intended to spend Labor Day weekend – so much for our plans to take the kids to the zoo on Saturday! At least I have a decent number of days off, though, since I don’t work Fridays. (Tomorrow should be fun, home alone with the kids.)
Readers, what’s the dumbest way you’ve ever hurt yourself?
