Book Boy and I spent a perfectly lovely hour playing Connect Four tonight. He’s been bugging Tim and me to play a game with him (after Little Sister goes to bed) the past couple of nights, but it just hasn’t worked out. BB, LS and I played Connect Four successfully for about 15 minutes on Friday, so I had him get it out again when we got home from my parents’ house. He and I played while Tim and LS did … not sure what.
Wow, is that boy GOOD! He thinks pretty far ahead, and is great at setting himself up with two ways to win – then when I block him with my next checker, he simply drops his checker in the other spot, and grins at me. In fact, we played 25 games, and he won 15 to my 10. I was extremely impressed. And we’re planning to play a few games again tomorrow night, assuming a pleasant dinner/homework/bathtime.
(Of course, when Tim came over to watch us for a few minutes and BB told him how many more games he had won, Tim said “It’s really nice that your mom plays on the level of a 7-year-old, isn’t it? Smart aleck.)
