I was supervising Book Boy’s homework after dinner tonight. It was the usual amount of fussing and complaining about having to do homework, wanting to write the shortest answer possible because he hates actually writing, etc. He’s a smart kid, but the homework battles are killing me.
He was complaining again because Little Sister had finished her bath and was playing a game with Tim before bedtime. BB finally got to the crux of the problem this time, though:
“Mom, it’s NOT FAIR that I have to spend all day in stupid, stupid school and Little Sister gets to go to preschool and play with Sunny (preschool’s brand new kitten) and do fun things all day. And now I have to listen to her play games with Dad while I do my dumb homework. It’s NOT FAIR!”
Um, yeah. I didn’t have much to say to that. Poor kid, I happen to agree with him. (But yes, he does have to do his homework.)
