As I mentioned yesterday, we’ve got some gorgeous and unseasonably warm weather this weekend.
Today, we spent the day with my folks. Arrived at 10 and went right to the farmers’ market. We didn’t spend a lot of time there, but the kids (and adults!) enjoyed browsing, exploring the different types of produce, etc. My dad ended up with some onions, red peppers and raspberries (all for lunch). Book Boy and I went off together for a bit, and he was enticed by some lovely Indian corn, so we bought a bundle of three for $3. Little Sister scored a cool star-shaped orange gourd for $.50 (Grandpa paid, I believe). I think I will find out when the farmers’ markets in our immediate area (there are at least two) are open and take the kids there once in a while. I’ll try to do it once or twice this fall, but really can’t wait to do it next summer. Oh, we also bought an apple pie for dessert.
After lunch, we were all sitting around in the back yard. Tim reminded my Dad about a time (pre-kids) that we got an apple pie somewhere and went to the park to eat it. After a minute, Dad said “What time do you guys have to be home today?” No specific time, of course – that’s why I much prefer to do our weekly visits on Saturday rather than Sunday. So I re-installed the car seats in Dad’s van (second time today, LOL), and we piled in and went to the local metropark. We were there for at least an hour and a half – they have some really great kids play areas, and of course the kids had to play at all of them! We worked up an appetite and eventually polished off the pie – which was more than the six of us should have been able to finish, but I don’t think we tossed a whole lot of it.
Tomorrow: Toledo Zoo, using those free passes that Tim scored. Can’t wait!
