Last week, I invited you to ask me questions to help jump-start my blog with some good topics. Only two of you have done so, but boy did those two ask questions! (Anyone else who has a question is welcome to ask it in the comments here or in the previous post.)
Question #5, from Jen over at The Road Less Traveled:
What was the last thing you did that was just for you?
Um … um …. it’s hard to do something just for yourself when you’re with kids basically twenty-four hours of the day!
I assume we’re not talking about something like stashing some Peanut M&Ms where no one can find them and indulging after the kids are in bed. (Are we?)
Anyway, I think the last thing I did just for me – meaning that I did it only because I wanted to – was a seat check event that I did in early February. Yes, it’s volunteer work and of course it benefits the families I work with, but really I did this one because I enjoy it, and because I knew that five of the other techs working the event were friends of mine, so it would be fun. (And it was!) It was a little tough to get away because Book Baby is not thrilled about taking a bottle, but I volunteered with the stipulation that I’d call Tim halfway through and see how it was going, and leave if necessary. He didn’t beg me to come home when I called, so I guess it went well enough.
I’ve also made a point of going Joann’s (fabric/craft store) alone every once in a while. Sure, I usually buy fabric to make something for the kids, but it’s still really nice to get out of the house by myself and browse without having to look at anything I don’t want to look at – no Hello Kitty or Dora crap, etc.
(Other moms, what do YOU do you for yourselves? I could use some ideas that don’t involve shopping/browsing.)
