Before Book Baby was born, I had the idea that I would “baby wear” her. I figured that it would be convenient, with three kids, to have the baby in a sling or other carrier when grocery shopping or running other errands, spending time at Book Boy’s school, etc. Well, the best laid plans and all – I could NOT find a carrier that I liked and that fit me well. Made a ring sling – hated it. (I did use the ring sling successfully once, with help from a friend, and Book Baby just loved it – in fact, she fell asleep within minutes.) Bought a Mei Tei – didn’t quite fit. Bought a Moby wrap from a friend – didn’t really like it (waaay too much fabric). Bought a nice Ergo carrier for half-price from BabySteals.com – loved it, but again, it didn’t quite fit. By this point, Tim was getting annoyed and I was getting frustrated.
But! Recently, a friend mentioned that there’s a waist extender available for the Ergo. Turns out it’s only $8, and my local “natural parenting” store carries it. So I packed up the kids today, and we headed out to the Little Seeding. Another friend of mine works there (these are both “car seat friends” of mine) and said if I brought in my carrier, she’d help me get it figured out. I did, she did, and BBaby loved it! I kept her in it for another 20 minutes or so while the kids and I browsed the store. It’s really comfy, though there’s a bit of a learning curve and I’ll need Tim or BB to help me for a while.
We’re going to our favorite science center tomorrow (it re-opened last fall!) to see the scientist from Book Girl’s favorite TV show. I expect that we’ll be there for a while, and I can’t wait to try BBaby in the carrier. I’m hoping that she’ll take a snooze on me again.

She’s 3 in this picture but still get the sling out sometimes.
