I love fresh produce. And it’s even better when it’s inexpensive, local fresh produce! We have a corn stand (called The Corn Stand, of course) just across the corner from our neighborhood. I can literally see the corn fields from my front yard. We also have a local farm market just a couple of miles away.
And boy, is the produce “in” for the summer! Big fat ears of (local) corn, $2.95 per dozen. Juicy red tomatoes, $.99 per pound. Green peppers, cucumbers, watermelon, cantaloupe, etc. It’s great. Oh, and Book Girl loves fresh produce too. In fact, when we went to the farm market yesterday, she asked me if she could pick out one thing. I thought she might try to talk me into the (non-local, expensive) strawberries but nope – she wanted me to buy her a head of cauliflower! Of course I bought it for her, and chopped it up when we got home. It’s nearly gone now!
