Since the kids are home this summer with our “nanny” (will that ever stop sounding strange?), I’ve been trying to leave treats for them now and then to keep it interesting – little fun things like a new box of sidewalk chalk, colored pencils and a sketch book, things like that. One of the items is a Slip n Slide. The kids were planning to play with it today but didn’t get the chance, because they took too long to get their room cleaned up (no surprise there – I’m sure it took them all day).
When I got home from work, even though it was almost dinnertime and starting to cool off a bit, Allie and Adam were begging to play with the Slip n Slide. I figured what the heck, their room was (reasonably) clean, it doesn’t really matter what time they eat dinner in the summer, etc. They got it set up and played for a bit. Adam quickly tired of it and came in to read, so I sat and watched Allie while she played. She looked so happy, even playing by herself. Run – slide – giggle – get up. Run – slide – giggle – get up. Wish I could have that much fun playing with a $5 toy!
