Adam loves skiing. LOVES it. He has been kind of “hot and cold” about some activities with his Boy Scout troop, but is completely in love with skiing. His troop has a ski trip planned for this weekend (departing tomorrow night), and he can’t wait.
The problem? They’re planning to ski at a resort in western New York State. And there’s a blizzard headed up the East Coast this weekend. I don’t think it will hit that part of the state hard enough to force them to cancel the trip, but …
There has been no indication from the Scoutmaster that they are considering cancelling the trip (they usually keep us in the loop), but I think Adam, Tim and I will all be on tenterhooks until the kids leave at 5:30 tomorrow.
Cross your fingers for him!
First of all, LOOK AT HIM! I can’t believe that’s the adorable little “Book Boy” who preferred sitting indoors reading to going to the park or on your “special walks.” (Remember that? How long ago was that?) Now he’s lean and athletic Adam!
I don’t know how you parents do it. My nephew — now in 7th grade — wanted to see Lincoln and we met at the theater in my neighborhood. The theater is in an outdoor mall not easily accessible by car. So his parents dropped him off about four blocks away. Finding the theater was a no-brainer (after all, the big flashing lights on the marquee are a tip-off), but still. I was so nervous! If I was a mother facing a ski trip in the face of a snowstorm, I’d come unglued. Even though the odds are astronomical he’ll be completely OK.
